So last week (or two) I spoke about one of my bad hair day styles (the wavy hair). Well here’s another one – my curly hair updo.
I use my flexi rods 🙂 to achieve this look and I do this pinup/Mohawk hair style. I love this style and have received many compliments about it. So if you’re having a bad hair day try skipping the pony tails/scrunchies and hair clips and experiment with flexi rods!
For more information on flexi rods see my ‘Wavy hair girl’ post!
Essie nail polish: Berry Naughty
So I tried another color today (but it was in the red family). I dare not deviate from my reds! The color was from Essie nail line and it’s called “Berry Naughty” . (My character has nothing to do with the name, lol). I really like Essie nail products! In fact I stick to 3 nail polish brands. My most favorite to favorite are:
- China Glaze
You are probably thinking “what about Shellac?” Let me talk briefly about Shellac. First off, I am not a fan of Shellac. As a former Licensed Nail Technician and nail shop owner (we’ll cover that in another post) I will say that Shellac “can” be a good product for some people. Shellac for me is too thick of a product.
Yes it may last longer and there is no drying time with Shellac. But I like thin natural looking nails. Yes, I have artificial nails on so the solar product is already a layered product. But when you add a thick product like Shellac it can make the nails look even thicker. I get my nails filed thin enough to still be strong but the Shellac will still make them appear thicker.
Bottom line if you like thinner nails the I would suggest Shellac if you’re applying them to natural nails and not the artificial ones.
On the other hand, my favorite top coat for regular polish is Seche Vite and it is the absolute best. I use to use their top coat on all of my clients and they loved it! In the recent years they’ve come up with the instant gel effect top coat and I love it even more! Here is why:
- It dries extremely fast (give or take a couple of minutes)
- It leaves your nails super shiny
- It makes your nail polish last longer

When it’s time for my hair to get done I rock what I call my “layover” look – which is wavy hair. It is such a change and it gives me a different edgier look while I hold out a few days from getting it done. The best thing I like is that I don’t have to use heat on my hair to get this look. I use Flexi Rods! They are my favorite hair styling tool to get wavy hair! After I came across this pin on Pinterest it was all game on selecting how big I wanted my wave pattern. Here is how I achieve this look:
- Apply ORS Smooth N Hold pudding (such great product that will hold your waves or curls, leaves your hair shiny, and keeps your hair flexible)
- I part my hair to four sections
- Twist each section and wrap around the flexi rod
- Leave the rods in overnight
- In the AM pull the curls apart to my desired fullness
If I get enough requests I will post a video of my styling technique!

Here’s another signature of mine. The fragrance and perfume designer Thierry Mugler.
My spring and summer fragrance is Angel.
My fall and winter fragrance is Alien.
There is some truth to when they say that your body chemistry has to connect with the fragrance in order for others to be able to smell what you’re wearing.
One of the big things I love about Thierry Mugler is that once you buy his fragrance you can refill your bottle for less than your original purchase amount (I encourage you to buy it at a major chain store for this option). Another thing is that at Dillards for sure you can get your perfume bottle engraved with your name if you should choose. Or if you decide to buy it for someone as a gift you can engrave their name on the bottle.
Right now Thierry Mugleris offering some special promotions!! Check the out here is one of them.
15% off your refill bottle

Offer ends 10/15/17
The fragrance hues in Angel are bergamot, tropical fruits, vanilla, caramel, and patchouli.
Alien fragrance hues are sambac jasmine, cashmeran wood, amber gris.
Many may have noticed (or not) that in nearly all of my, few, posts 🙂 I wear red nail polish or lipstick in the red family. While red may not be your signature look it is a look that is warranted for consideration as the winter approaches.
Not just because it’s a holiday color but because of the warmth of the color. If you’re not a fan of red lipstick (like I once was) try lip colors that are at least in the red family. Don’t be afraid to try red this year!

I know you’ve seen the dresses that are too flary, too tight, too short, too colorful, too much pattern, too big and the list goes on and on. But what happened to the little, simple, cute black dress? You know the dress that you can go to work in and then spice up later with a blazer, scarf, or accessories for a late night dinner.
Well, I found this cute laced bottom black dress at TJ Maxx for just $19.99 and let me tell you the material was not cheap. TJ Maxx has some great dresses, preferably their solid colored dresses. Haven’t been to TJ Maxx in a while for clothing? You just might want to pay them a visit.
‘My Little Black dress’ may sound cliche but they still make a statement and will always be original. Especially if you wear it with bright bold lips and nail color.
Another fashion tip I’d like to bring up is ‘Coat Slinging.’ I recently read a post that totally bashed coat slinging stating that it doesn’t stay on your shoulders, you can’t hug people etc., etc. However, Coat Slinging in my opinion is classy. While wearing this style isn’t meant to be worn while going out dancing, it is meant to be worn if you anticipate sitting pretty at a dinner table across from your date. I don’t know maybe it’s my obsession with the 50’s and 60’s era. It says “I’m a mature, sophisticated woman” when it’s done right..it’s a vintage and classic look.
Do you think you could pull off a Coat Slinging look or would you dare try?
(FYI the red blazer is from Ann Taylor)
